Recipe
Making tamales de elote is a fairly easy task. Below are the instructions on how to make them.
1.- Obtain corn that's young and recently harvested. Clean it by removing the leaves.
2.- Using a knife, cut the grains off the corn ears. Grind the grains.
3.- Mix the ground grains with margerine until you have a paste with the similar consistency than cottage cheese. Add some sugar (your preference) and a little bit of salt.
4.- Using a cloth sieve the mixture from 3 to another container. You might need to add some more water if the mixture is too thick.
5.- Use the corn leaves to make wraps and stuff them with the paste from step 4.
6.- Put all the stuffed tamales in a pot with water (make sure the water level is about an inch from the bottom) and bring to a boil. Serve and enjoy. |
